My Top 11 Films of 2018

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, how’s it going? So it is New Year’s Eve and 2018 is almost over, but before the year disappears I wanted to share with you my favourite films of the year via my podcast, Film Focus. But unlike previous years I’ve decided to do a top 11 because 1) After going through my list I just couldn’t leave the final number at ten and had to add one more. But more importantly, 2) Because I bloody feel like it and it’s my list! 😛 So if you know what kind of films that I like you may not be surprised by some of my entries, but I think there will be some that you won’t expect.

So join me as I go through some of the best films of the year that I believe you should have seen or should check out if you haven’t already.

P.S. During the Bumblebee segment I made a couple of mistakes where I meant to say a mixture of CGI and live-action instead of real life and live-action. And I also mentioned the High Moon Studios Transformers games which I meant to say were for the PS3 and Xbox 360, not the PS4.

EPIC REVIEW: Incredibles 2 (Audio Edition)

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, how are you all doing? It is time for another film review and today I will be giving you my thoughts on the long-awaited animated sequel; Incredibles 2 via my Film Focus.

I literally saw this film yesterday morning at the earliest screening and I was thinking about doing a written review, but I felt like an audio review would be best. So yeah please enjoy the sounds of me talking about this film.

I was originally going to do a written review for Deadpool 2, but time got away from me and with Solo coming out a week later, I thought it’d be better for me to just pack both reviews together, and like I have stated beforehand, I feel like I can communicate my raw thoughts on a film much better than a written piece of work.

PODCAST: Film Focus Episode 53 – Avengers: Infinity War Spoiler Discussion

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, as some of you may have seen, in 2016 I started a film podcast entitled Film Focus and on this podcast, I talk about various topics in film and reviews as well on a biweekly basis. And the latest episode is a spoiler-heavy discussion on Avengers: Infinity War.

I’ve done already done my posted my original review, however, unlike most reviews I do there is a written and audio-based review. But I felt that because Infinity War would be a film I would be naturally excited about, I wanted to make my main review audio-related so that you all could understand my feelings towards the film in its purest form. And I also had so much fun recording with Drew that I felt like a written review would come across a bit redundant. However, that recording wasn’t the only episode recorded, as we also did a spoiler-based discussion talking about all of the major talking points from Thanos to the funniest scenes and character interactions to the character deaths and what the end of this film could mean for the MCU going forward.

Now I actually dropped this episode online last week, but because of timing issues I didn’t share it on my blog, plus I feel like a fortnight is plenty of time to wait before busting out the juicy spoilers haha. So yeah if you’re curious to hear the fun, interesting and fun thoughts on Infinity War from Drew and I then you’re in the right place. It was one of my favourite episodes of the podcast so far! 😀

Avengers: Infinity War Spoiler-Free Review

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, how is it going? So yeah this review is up a little later than I had wanted but let’s just say I had a hella busy weekend, but putting that aside, I am finally here to share with you my thoughts on the latest Marvel Studios, Avengers: Infinity War! Now I did consider doing a written review, but I feel like my podcast would be able to better describe my feeling about the film in a more vivid and raw manner. So my review will be presented via my podcast Film Focus and features a returning guest, my homie Drew from Drew’s Movie Reviews.

Now I will admit this review was largely unscripted and since we were trying to avoid spoilers, there is a fair amount of vagueness to our comments, that being said we do cover a good deal of material in the story, character and presentation departments highlighting the highs and lows of the film, and generally just gushing about how much we liked the film haha. It is a good listen and I hope that you’ll enjoy the episode because I know Drew and I had a lot of fun making the episode. 😀

I was going to do a written review for Ready Player One, but I didn’t have the time and since I saw it pretty close to my viewing of Pacific Rim 2 so I decided that my podcast would be an easier and better way to talk about both films. I basically expand upon my thoughts in terms of what I like and what I don’t, and more specifically how the film relates to the game and what it gets right and what it doesn’t. It was also a fun episode to do because it was my 50th episode so I do get a little crazy at points, but hopefully, that won’t make you want to turn the episode off haha. 😛

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, happy new year! Hope y’all had a good transition into 2018! So it January, a new year has begun and my first blog post is covering a topic from last year, for shame haha. But I think it was inevitable considering how much stuff I tried to do in the lead up to the end of December. Anywho, as some of you may have seen, in 2016 I started a film podcast entitled Film Focus and on this podcast, I talk about various topics in film and reviews as well on a biweekly basis. As for the latest episode, it is my top 10 films of 2017.

Now I released this episode on New Year’s Eve, but didn’t have the time to post it on the blog because I was busy with work and getting ready for a house party later on that night, so while it may look like I’m late to the party with this post, I technically had it done on time haha. 😛 Anyway as it says in the title, this episode of the podcast was dedicated to my favourite films of last year and man it was a tough list to put together and I am pretty sure that not everyone will like my choices or their placement in the list. But understand, it was a struggle and some of them are still subject to change. Anyway so the first part of the episode I will talk about my honourable mentions, then I do the top 10 films and then mention my most disappointing towards the end. I really hope you enjoy this episode because even though it was hard to record and was more ad-libbed than some of the more recent episodes, I think it turned out well.
