Films To Look Out For In 2014 Part 2

Howdy ladies and gentlemen and welcome to PART 2 of Films to look out for in 2014! In this series of blog posts I’ll basically be listing a number of films that you should keep your eyes on over the course of the year.  If you missed part 1 you can read it here.

The Rules:

  1. Obviously a lot films come out, so if they’re not only my list it’s either because I don’t know about them or I don’t care.
  2. 2013 films getting their UK releases this year don’t count! 😛

Alrighty then, let’s start 😀

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Release Date: April 4th (USA), March 28th (UK)

Trailer:

Okay, this is where the year starts to get serious with its films. Entering a lot earlier than previous Marvel films is Captain America 2 and I CAN’T WAIT! This film looks incredible, the trailer looks lovely and all the interviews with the cast, directors and Kevin Feige all point towards greatness. What I see is the potential for a kick ass action thriller with politics, wonderful fight scenes and the adaptation of one of the best Captain America comic book storylines. I pray that this film works out.

Sabotage

Release Date: April 11th (USA), 25th (UK)

Trailer:

It’s 2014 and we have another Arnie film, life is good again. While Schwarzenegger has add a bit of a bumpy year in 2013, this looks like it could be his return to form. It is a genre he is familiar with, the supporting cast are good and story seems like it could work and potentially be something specially with the director being the man behind Training Day. Here’s hoping that it works yo.

Transcendence

Release Date: April 18th (USA), 25th (UK)

Trailer:

Now while this film isn’t on my high priorities list, it does look unique and interesting. I am very weary about films with Johnny Depp in them, but this looks like it could be good with the whole science and subconsciousness stuff. Plus the director, while I’m not too keen on his comments about The Avengers, looks like he could craft a good film on his own with his really good cinematography. Guess we’ll see what happens.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Release Date: May 2nd (USA), April 18th (UK)

Trailer:

I’ve said it countless times before but I’m gonna say it again, I did not like Amazing Spider-Man. It was alright but nowhere near as “amazing” as the name suggests. However this trailer looks a HELL of a lot better than the last film with the new set of villains, storylines and potential tie-ins to the comic book source material. The film does look a bit crowded and we could be potentially looking at another Spider-Man 3, but I pray to god that this is the Spider-Man film that fan deserve.

Godzilla

Release Date: May 16th (USA & UK)

Godzilla-Poster

Trailer:

Oh my god, I need this film now! I need this film to be good. I have been a fan of Godzilla for a good few years now and us western audience need a proper version of Godzilla made that will be shown in the cinema rather than having to search around for it on DVD. This film looks like it’ll be badass, the teaser trailers look kick ass with some incredible visuals, a wonderful dark tone and a good cast. I hope that it’ll be the one and conquer 2014!

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Release Date: May 23rd (USA), 22nd (UK)

Trailer:

Ah X-Men, for the longest time you only had two good films to your film series, however luckily First Class changed the game and The Wolverine, while not perfect had the best interpretation of the title character yet. So Days of Future Past has a lot to live up to. It looks pretty solid, the cast are big and incredible and Bryan Singer is back to direct. But those points I just stated both excited and scare me. I want this film to succeed and I NEED it to succeed. However there are so many potential red flags that come up, I’m afraid. I just pray that it works.

Maleficent

Release Date: May 30th (USA & UK)

Trailer:

This film is something that I’m curious about and yet not overly interested in at the same time. I thought the teaser trailer looked interesting and the character is one of the coolest and most terrifying female villains I have known since my childhood. A film centered on the character could go one of two ways; it could be either really good or really bad.

Edge of Tomorrow

Release Date: June 6th (USA), May 30th (UK)

Trailer:

Now this is a film I’ve been following for a long time since the first imagine of Tom Cruise in his exoskeleton suit came online. The overall trailer wasn’t what I expected, however I feel like it is again a unique enough concept to made a story around and justify the crazy action going on. My current issues with the film trailer make me believe that we may have another Oblivion on our hands and some stupid story that won’t get a proper satisfactory ending, but hell we’ll see what happens.

22 Jump Street

Release Date: June 13th (USA), 6th (UK)

Trailer:

21 Jump Street from 2012 was one of the better films I saw at that point in the year and was surprisingly fun, while I didn’t love it as much as a lot of other people did I still found it to be enjoyable. So with there being a sequel I’m down, the trailer looks just as ridiculous as the last film and as long as it makes me laugh then we’re gonna have a good time.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

Release Date: June 13th (USA), July 4th (UK)

Trailer:

And lastly we have the sequel to the Dreamworks film that everyone wouldn’t shut up about back in 2010. I still haven’t seen the first film, yes I said it. Back at the time I had no interest and I was very picky with children’s animated films. I’ve been meaning to watch it for a while but just haven;t gotten around to it. I’ll be sure to check it out before this sequel comes out, I’ve heard good things about the trailer so I’ll be in the cinema when it shows up in June.

Alright then, part two is done! That is your fix from April to July, the months that matter! So yeah there’s my picks from the summer, make sure to come back to the blog asap as I finish the year off with part 3! 🙂

P.S. What do you think of the list? Also is there any films you think I’ve left out? Feel free to drop me a comment below and I’ll get back to you asap. Until the next time laters! 😀

Sabotage Trailer #1 Review

Hey people of the internet, time to review a trailer again! Today I’m having a look one I’ve been meaning to review for a few days now, it is the review for the next Arnold Schwarzenegger film, Sabotage. So besides having the same name as one of my favourite Beastie Boys songs, this next Arnie picture looks pretty decent and has my attention as another film I may be excited for in 2014.

But before I get into all the details check out the trailer below yo:

Well this looks interesting. Now I am a sucker for a good action thriller, but I am genuinely interested in see what this film has to say. The first thing that sounds out is Arnie and how he has changed his psychical appearance for a role which makes him look a lot more active and interesting than in say films like Expendables 2 or The Last Stand, here it looks like he’s just continuing the roles he did back in the 90’s but with newer faces around him which is cool. I also like the cast involved too. Besides having Arnie which is a huge selling point for me, you also got Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello and Olivia Williams to name a few. It just seems like an interesting collection of people in one place, I just hope they all have a chance to stand out.

I like the whole family unit idea of this team, how they’ve been through a lot together and have a good bond, but then I’m also down with the idea of conspiracies and inside jobs, and this film seems to have that covered. I hope that the action hold up too with some good film work and choreography because of I’m tired of this films not having some unique visual flair yo.

Now the only worries I have about this film is the fact that a lot of what I’m seeing in this trailer feels familiar. the whole “someone on your team is a traitor” and the whole “hey main character, they’ve got your wife” kind of thing, that and other things haves all been done before. It seems like the trailer has shown me that film has the thriller/crime and action elements down, but I just hope that the story is smart and interesting enough to hold the audience or we’ll just end up with something that is all style and no substance. But luckily we do have David Ayer behind the film, he’s done good work before so let’s hope he does well here too.

In conclusion Sabotage looks like it could be a lot of fun, I mean sure it’s gotten several plot elements that we’ve seen in action thriller films before, but I think the cast and premise looks cool and interesting enough to warrant a watch. Plus we’re in an age where Arnie is back on the big screen after almost a decade away, I’m gonna stick around and see what he’s up to.

What do you think of Sabotage? Are you interested or excited for this film our are you just not bothered? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll see on the next review yo! 😀
