Jurassic Park 4 is Called Jurassic World!

Howdy people, time for a bit of film news today. Now I know there’s been little and big bits and bobs in the world of news recently but trying to keep up with it all is hard, so normally I just jump on whatever story catches my eye and this one concerning Jurassic Park 4 is an interesting one. The following information comes from IGN:

Hold on to your butts, because Universal Pictures has announced ‘Jurassic World,’ aka Jurassic Park 4, will hit theaters in 3D on Friday, June 12, 2015.

Steven Spielberg will return to produce the feature helmed by Colin Trevorrow, based on a script by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. Trevorrow is perhaps best known for his 2012 comedy Safety Not Guaranteed.

Although plot details have yet to be revealed, Trevorrow has said in interviews that he hopes to make a “kick-ass Jurassic Park movie.”

“It’s important to make a movie for the fans, but I also have to remember that there’s a lot of people who couldn’t care less, and need for me to make a solid case for why the hell there’s a Jurassic Park IV in the first place.”

Trevorrow has also revealed a new dinosaur will be making an appearance in Jurassic World, describing it only as “pretty badass.””

Well that’s an interesting name, “Jurassic World” huh? It’s definitely different but it also has a nice ring to it, someone jokingly made this great remark in the comment section below: “We’re one step closer to Jurassic Galaxy…” Haha this clearly must be a reference to the Super Mario series with its game Super Mario World and Super Mario Galaxy. 😀 But that aside at least we have a confirmed date for the film’s release, so hopefully production will move ahead without any problems or any other issues that could prevent the film from being released again. I’m also glad to know Steven Spielberg is back to produce, I just hope that he does have some creative input , after all he is the man who helped adapt and craft this series of films in the first place.

Jurassic World could be a great film if handled properly if they avoid the long and tedious character stuff from the second film and don’t dumb the film down like the third one, then we could have a return to form for the series which I really want. Man the summer of 2015 is gonna a hot one, too many hardcore films coming out in that year, oh besides Pirates of the Caribbean 5, that got pushed back to 2016! Haha!

Colin Trevorrow Set to Direct Jurassic Park 4

Okay, I know this story is another one of the older variety but again it is based on a film that I have been following since 2006 and it is another important chapter in one of the most recognized film series in cinematic history in my opinion. Let’s check out the article that superherohype made for this film:

“It was announced in January that Universal Pictures is moving forward with Jurassic Park 4 and, today, a director has been named. Safety Not Guaranteed‘s Colin Trevorrow will helm the franchise sequel.

The Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment production will be produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley with Steven Spielberg as Executive Producer. The script was written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).

Trevorrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed was released through FilmDistrict and Big Beach Films and stars Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass and Jake Johnson. The critically-acclaimed film debuted at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival where screenwriter Derek Connolly won the prestigious Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. The film also won Best First Screenplay at this year’s Independent Spirit Awards, where Trevorrow was nominated for Best First Feature.

The original 1993 Jurassic Park will see a 3D re-release on April 5 of this year, also hitting IMAX 3D theaters. Jurassic Park 4, meanwhile, is scheduled for release on June 13, 2014.”

So now not only does Jurassic Park 4 have a release date but it also has a director too, this film is actually moving ahead! When a film gets a director it means the studios behind is serious about that project coming to life. Now I am not familiar with Colin Trevorrow, haven’t seen any of his work, so I guess I’ll have to have a look at before I see the new Jurassic Park film.

With all this talk about Jurassic Park 4 it’s getting me all hyped up to see the original film again but in the cinema in 3D later on in the year. Like Back to the Future it was a film I saw many times as a kid but only on VHS and TV and I’ve wanted to see something as classic as that in the cinema so when the summer comes I’ll be in love with nostalgia all over again! 😀

It’s Official: Jurassic Park IV is Coming in 2014!

I love those days when you’re just waiting for a juicy news story to talk about and then the gods finally answer your prayers with some really good stuff, and this is the case today. While it is just an announcement, it is a damn important one. The following article comes from superherohype:

“Just days after word arrived that Steven Spielberg’s tentative next film, Robopocalypse has been delayed indefinitely comes word that should more than balance out the disappointment felt by fans: Jurassic Park IV is officially on the way with a release date of June 13, 2014.

Details on the project are currently few, but Jurassic Park IV will be produced by Spielberg with a director yet-to-be-named. It is also being planned for a 3D release.

“It’s really hard to keep these things going when there’s an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going,” fellow producer Kathleen Kennedy told last fall. “As filmmakers, we often sit there going, ‘Okay. We have to answer the question, ‘Why do another one?” If you can’t answer that question, you shouldn’t be doing it. It’s tough. We’re trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn’t going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise.”

Currently unconfirmed, it is believed that the most recent draft of the sequel was scripted by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

The original 1993 Jurassic Park will see a 3D re-release on April 5 of this year, also hitting IMAX 3D theaters.”

All I can say is YES YES AND YES AGAIN! Finally after all this uncertainty, rumours and ugly scraped concept art we have confirmation that Jurassic Park is coming back for its fourth instalment next year. To be honest I thought we’d have to wait until at least 2015 to see this film in the cinema but hell if production gets under way at some point during this year and moves at a reasonable pace without being rushed then we may have a good film on our hands. Now obviously I haven’t forgotten how bad Jurassic Park III was, it was all action and not much else. It did have a few fun moments but it fell woefully short of the previous two films, I just hope that the filmmakers will use their brains this time and craft an adventure with both a good story and spectacular visuals like the first film.
