PODCAST: Disturbing Films

Howdy ladies and gentlemen of the internet, I’ve returned with a topic I have wanted to talk about for a while now and it relates to the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot coming out in March 2021. And I’ll be sharing my thoughts via my podcast Film Focus.

On episode 103 of Film Focus, I discuss disturbing films alongside my newest guest and friend Ross. Each of us has 4 films which we find disturbing in a specific way and as we discuss them, we also link each film with a unified theme including:

  • Films that are tough to watch but worth watching
  • Feelin bad for the characters
  • Good atmosphere
  • A bold introduction

The films we’ll be discussing are The Nightingale, Perfect Blue, Requiem for a Dream, Climax, Annihilation, Seven, Don’t Look Now and Our Evil. So join us on a casual discussion of these troubling yet entertaining films. Oh and be aware that we’ll essentially be talking spoilers for all of the films involved to varying levels. That being said Annihilation and Seven were the films we talked very specific spoilers and they were at 51:05 and 1:01:02.

Here’s the episode:

If you haven’t checked out my podcast before you can find it here: https://soundcloud.com/film_focus

So what did you think of our choice of disturbing films? Drop your thoughts in the comments section below and I’ll see ya in the next review, laters! 😀

PODCAST: Film Focus – State of the MCU

Good day to you ladies and gents of the internet, I’m here again to share with you an interesting discussion via my podcast, Film Focus. On episode 76, Drew from Drew’s Movie Reviews not only returns to the podcast but takes over hosting duties as we dive back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his topic; The State of the MCU. Since Avengers: Endgame is on the horizon, Drew and I thought it would be fun and interesting to discuss the superhero films from Marvel Studios in a little more detail discussing everything from the best and worst villains to our Top 5 best and worst films to the minimum amount of films you need to see before Endgame comes out.

So join us on a fun-filled discussion and of course know that this is spoiler-heavy, so if you’re not caught up on all of the films it’s best to catch up and then come back.

Also, two things to keep in mind:

  1. This is a spoiler-heavy discussion, and while we don’t cover every film in detail, if you’re not up to date with all of the MCU films then it is best that you skip this or get caught up and come back.
  2. This a fairly long episode at an hour and 47 minutes, but it is definitely a good listen as there was a lot of fun, humour and different perspectives on several of the films.

Check out the episode below:

So what did you think of our discussion? Agree or disagree? I really want to hear your thoughts on this film so drop your thoughts in the comments below and if you have some spare time subscribe to my podcast, Film Focus on Soundcloud and iTunes. Until the next time peeps, laters! 😀

Now, this is a film that a lot of people have been looking forward to not only because it was the follow-up to 2017’s Get Out, but also because of the hype surrounding the marketing. And with the early glowing reviews, film fans everywhere were excited to see what the deal was with this new film. So today I share with you my spoiler-free thoughts. 🙂

Pros and Cons of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Part 1

Good day to you ladies and gents of the internet, I’ve finally returned with another topic of conversation that I hope you will enjoy. So with Captain Marvel fast approaching I thought it would be fun to look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe and discuss the pros and cons via my podcast, Film Focus.

So this is a subject I’ve been wanting to cover for almost three years now, it was just a case of finding the right timing with when it comes to the ongoing Marvel films and getting out of work to record it. Thankfully I’m not alone, returning guest and good homie, Drew from Drew’s Movie Reviews is along for the ride to help me and I must say he did a fabulous job. 🙂 Now since the recording ended up being a little longer and in-depth than I expected this subject ended up becoming a two-parter. So in this episode, we cover the pros of the MCU from the characters to action scenes to characters and humour, we cover a lot and hopefully, you’ll enjoy listening to our discussion.

Also, two things to keep in mind:

  1. This is a spoiler-heavy discussion, and while we don’t cover every minute detail, if you’re not up to date with all of the MCU films then it is best that you skip this to avoid spoilers.
  2. There are a few mistakes made here and there when it came to naming pronunciations and some other verbal mistakes, so apologies in advance.

Check out the episode below:

So what did you think of our discussion? I really want to hear your thoughts on this film so drop your thoughts in the comments below and if you have some spare time subscribe to my podcast, Film Focus on Soundcloud and iTunes. Be sure to drop by again real soon for part 2, laters! 😀

AUDIO REVIEW: Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, I’m back again with another review and today I get to share my thoughts on Dragon Ball Super: Broly via my podcast, Film Focus.

Recently I shared my written review, however, I felt like I had more to say about this film and to properly illustrate how much this film means to me, I knew an episode on the podcast would be in order. Plus I also go into a little more detail about some of the stuff relating to the plot, characters and visual presentation. Now I have been following this film since the first teaser trailer and each bit of marketing has made my hype increase. And after waiting over a month after the initial Japanese release I’ve finally seen it and I am ready to pass judgement. So join me for this spoiler-free review to see how this latest Dragon Ball adventure turned out!

Check out my review below:

So have you seen Dragon Ball Super: Broly and if so what did you think of it? I really want to hear your thoughts on this film so drop your thoughts in the comments below and if you have some spare time subscribe to my podcast, Film Focus on Soundcloud and iTunes. Until next time, laters! 😀

PODCAST: Film Focus – 2019 Most Anticipated Films

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, this may seem a little late but I just had to share with you the latest episode of my podcast Film Focus as the new episode features a nice little preview of some of my most anticipated films of 2019 alongside returning guest Eddie from Sidekick Reviews 😀

Now I went through all of the major releases from now until December and there’s a lot of interesting and exciting films coming out, however, we couldn’t cover them all. So I collated 24 of the most interesting films that were a combination of popular and some not so popular films. So from Alita: Battle Angel to Star Wars Episode IX, we have an interesting and varied collection of films. On top of that, we leave some time to discuss some other films, not on the list and some films we’re not looking forward to as well. All of it made for some fun discussion between me and Eddie which you will hopefully enjoy.

So join us as we go through some of the most anticipated films of 2019!

P.S. Around 16 mins in I mentioned that I saw Get Out last year, I meant to say 2017.

Check out my thoughts on the film below:

So have you seen Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us and if so what did you think of it? Whatever your thoughts are, drop them in the comments below and if you have some spare time check out my podcast, Film Focus on Soundcloud and iTunes. Until next time, laters! 😀

DOUBLE REVIEW: Aquaman & Bumblebee

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, its review time once again and I’m back again with some new reviews in the form of Aquaman and Bumblebee via my podcast, Film Focus and I’ve shared the episode in this post for y’all to check out.

I was originally going to review both films individually but since I saw them on the same day I decided to put both reviews in the same episode. With Aquaman, I was curious about the film but trepidacious because the trailers didn’t wow me and with Bumblebee I was dubious but had hope because of Travis Knight’s direction and the good trailers. So how did these films fare? Well, listen to this episode for some fun spoiler-free thoughts on both films! 😀

Timecodes:

02:07 Aquaman
18:45 Bumblebee

Check out my thoughts on both films in episode 65 below:

P.S. I didn’t have my entire notes properly collected for these reviews so apologies if my thoughts come across as a little loose. Also, I made a mistake in the Bumblebee review where I said Simple Plan when I meant to say Simple Minds haha.

So have you seen Aquaman and Bumblebee or both? And if so what did you think of them? Whatever your thoughts are, drop them in the comments below and if you have some spare time check out my podcast, Film Focus on Soundcloud and iTunes. Until next time, laters! 😀
