PODCAST: Film Focus – 2019 Most Anticipated Films

14 Jan

Howdy ladies and gents of the internet, this may seem a little late but I just had to share with you the latest episode of my podcast Film Focus as the new episode features a nice little preview of some of my most anticipated films of 2019 alongside returning guest Eddie from Sidekick Reviews 😀

Now I went through all of the major releases from now until December and there’s a lot of interesting and exciting films coming out, however, we couldn’t cover them all. So I collated 24 of the most interesting films that were a combination of popular and some not so popular films. So from Alita: Battle Angel to Star Wars Episode IX, we have an interesting and varied collection of films. On top of that, we leave some time to discuss some other films, not on the list and some films we’re not looking forward to as well. All of it made for some fun discussion between me and Eddie which you will hopefully enjoy.

So join us as we go through some of the most anticipated films of 2019!

P.S. Around 16 mins in I mentioned that I saw Get Out last year, I meant to say 2017.

Check out my thoughts on the film below:

So have you seen Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us and if so what did you think of it? Whatever your thoughts are, drop them in the comments below and if you have some spare time check out my podcast, Film Focus on Soundcloud and iTunes. Until next time, laters! 😀

You know me, all the MCU movies are at the top of my list of films for next year. Captain Marvel and Spider-Man are two of my favorite comic book characters. My girl Carol Danvers is finally hitting the big screen, so that’s exciting. Spider-Man: Homecoming was a fun Spidey adventure so I can’t wait for a follow-up. And of course the conclusion to everything in the MCU so far with Avengers: Endgame. Hot damn that’s going to be epic!

Captive State does have a few teasers and a full length trailer. It’s an interesting concept that makes the film intriguing to me. I’m with Eddie that part of it might be because I’m into sci-fi films. With Hellboy, I hear that it was said it was going to be darker than the Ron Perlman films but I don’t get that from the single trailer that’s out. There seems to be very little darkness and a lot of lightheartedness. I’m kind of ‘eh’ for Detective Pikachu but being a pokemon fan, I’ll probably go see it.

John Wick: Chapter 3 is high on my list as well. I saw John Wick twice in theaters and both 1 and 2 made my end of the year favorite films. The series was refreshing and it skillfully created its own world that is ripe for spin-offs. I still don’t know how I feel yet about Will Smith as Genie in Aladdin. That movie was such a big part of my childhood that I’ll be seeing the live-action remake in the theater. Same with The Lion King. I just hope that they do enough to not feel like the exact same as their animated counterparts and feel justified in being remade other than to cash in on nostalgia. When it comes to Toy Story, I’m not overly excited about it but like you, I am approaching with cautious optimism.

My ass will be in the theater for Star Wars: Episode IX. You already know my feelings on The Last Jedi but as a Star Wars fan boy, I will be there for the final Skywalker installment. ‘More cohesion’ is a great way to describe what the future of Star Wars needs. That’s what I’ve been saying the Sequel films have been missing. I think after IX, Disney needs to look at what they want to do with the franchise and really put some hard thought into the future of it.

For you, I hope the Sonic movie is better than the poster looks. 😛

    Great show, mate!
