Good day to you ladies and gents of the internet, time to talk about some film news that just dropped a little while ago. The following information comes from superherohype:

He’s been campaigning for the role since last September, and revealed he had a meeting about playing the character back in April, and now longtime “X-Men” producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirms that Channing Tatum is Gambit. Though no official deal has been put in place, Donner revealed to Total Film that, to her at least, Tatum is the character.
“Well you know he’s a rogue, Channing. He’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. He’s got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think he’ll be great, he’ll be great for Gambit, and he’s a southerner too, he’s not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”
So after the interviews, news stories and rumours we finally have confirmation that Gambit is returning to the big screen and we have Mr Tatum taking on the role, and while there’s no official story from 20th Century Fox, it is pretty safe to assume that when someone involved with a film franchise says that someone is cast in a role, you’re gonna take it as fact as most times it ends up being true anyway. Alrighty then, how do I feel about this news? A bit excited and partially concerned. Now the reason I’m in two minds about his casting is because on one hand Tatum has gone from someone I’d never cared about, until I saw films like 21 Jump Street and Side Effects that shows that the guy is talented. But on the other I’m not sure if the guy is a decent fit for the role of Gambit. Now Gambit is a very important a treasured character in the comics and among fans, so seeing this character get the adaptation he deserves is the most important thing. I guess it’ll just be a question of time, we’ll have to see when and how this character gets brought into the current X-Men films before we pass judgement, as for now I’m down with it, though I can see the fan boys raging away at their computer screens too haha.
What do you think of this news? Do you think Channing Tatum is a good fit for the role of Gambit or not? Be sure to leave your comments below and I’ll see on then ext blog post. Laters. 😀
