Good day to you ladies and gents, time for the last big late news story which comes in the form of an unexpected tidbit of info surrounding the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. The following information comes from superherohype:
“With Captain America: The Winter Soldier now in theaters, Marvel Studios’ next big screen release is the penultimate “Phase Two” entry, Guardians of the Galaxy, written and directed by James Gunn. Since “Firefly” and “Castle” star Nathan Fillion has worked quite a bit with Gunn in the past, one fan asked him during a St. Louis Comic-Con panel whether or he wanted a part in the August 1 release.
“[Want] to get a part?” Fillion said with a smirk. “Or maybe did. I’m just saying maybe. Maybe it’ll be a surprise. Maybe check the credits of the movie when you watch it.”
As you can see in the video below (posted to YouTube by fan “Jamie K.”), Fillion’s tone makes it a pretty solid bet that he’ll be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy in some capacity. The fact that he’s asking us to check the credits, however, might suggest that the part is either a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo or, given Gunn’s penchant for practical effects, Fillion may wind up a completely unrecognizable alien species.”
Well this is certainly interesting. Fillion is an awesome guy and fans in the world of comics have wanted him to do a superhero film for YEARS. So when you hear this you can’t help but smile and get giddy and then speculate as to what he will do in the film. So could he could be? Well the possibilities is endless. Chances are he’ll probably be a minor character if he is in the film, possibly a passing alien or human, doubtful it would be a main character. However someone in the comments on supeherohype said something pretty interesting. What if he was Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly/Serenity? I then thought about it and then I realised how cool that would be if his character was referenced in the film because it would fit in with the world and style that GotG is trying to create. Obviously it is all speculation at the moment and it could just be a rumour, however I really hope Fillion is in the film is some noteworthy capacity.
