Good day to you ladies and gentlemen of the internet, today I return to discuss some recent film news relating to the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII. The following information comes from superherohype:

“Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm today revealed that, as has long been expected, their Star Wars: Episode VII will begin production at London’s historic Pinewood Studios in May. What’s more, they’ve confirmed that the action in the sequel will be set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and that the storyline follows “a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.”

The film’s cast is expected to be announced shortly with “Girls” and Inside Llewyn Davis star Adam Driver heavily rumored to play the film’s Darth Vader-like antagonist. Among the other actors rumored to be in contention are 12 Years a Slave‘s Lupita Nyong’o and quite a few young male stars.

Directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, Star Wars: Episode VII is rumored to include appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. The film will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.”

Alrighty then so we have a time period which is good and to be fair it is set a great deal of time after the last film in the series so that will definitely explain a few things and same time for any continuity problems that would occur if set any earlier than that. Also the fact that they are going to be new lead characters taking over this series of films was a given, I’m just curious to know who they are. But the main thing that has fans all over the internet getting all giddy is the mention of very familiar faces and I think we all know who they are right? Han, Luke and Leia anyone? Come on now if they’re not talking about the return of the tree most beloved members of the orignal Star Wars Trilogy then who else could it be? Boba Fett would be a stretch, R2-D2 would be a given or maybe even Chewbacca, but none of those characters are nearly as interesting as the original trio. They are the be all and end all of this franchise and it would be absurd to make this film without them. So I can only assume that behind closed doors than Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are totally in. Anyways, this sounds good to me and I can’t wait for production to start in May.
