Howdy people of the internet and once again return to bring you a trailer review. And today I’m gonna be talking about the recently released trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Now besides the new Ninja Turtles film, this was the only other summer film that was invisible from the public eye besides having the odd casting announcement and some pictures released every once in a blue moon. So now we have a trailer finally and we get to speculate what the final project will be like.
Before I started reviewing have a look at the trailer below:
Okay, first thoughts after seeing this trailer? It looks alright, nothing amazing, but nothing crap either.
Now I loved the first Sin City, I thought it was one of the coolest, most visually stunning, violent and well-acted films that came out of 2005. I never expected or wanted a sequel but hey if Hollywood wants to make a sequel then who am I to stop it? A Dame To Kill For looks like it basically has several returning cast members along with some new ones too and just like the latest 300: Rise of an Empire, this film seems to be picking up where the last film took off in terms of the characters and presentation.
There’s a good few characters that show up in this trailer, some have longer screen time than others with there are a few that you can catch quick glimpses of. Jessica Alba is still dancing all sleazy-like as Nancy Callahan again, Mickey Rourke still looks like shit as Marv, the rest of the trailer is mainly dedicated to the new faces of the film. Joseph Gordon-Levitt gets a lot of screen time as Johnny, Josh Brolin shows up a few times as the new Dwight McCarthy and even Eva Green shows up briefly as Ava Lord with a gun in her hand. I am glad that visual component of the film is consistent and it looks just like the last film which is good.
The one thing that bugs me about this trailer is the use of dubstep, why the hell is that crappy excuse for music being used in all film and video game trailers? It is not cool, it’s just fucking annoying and makes things look less interesting than they actually are.
In conclusion the first trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For gives us a tiny taste of what’s to come and it looks like more of the same and in this case that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The first film was awesome and the cast for this sequel are pretty cool and look like they’ll be great new additions to this world. I know it’s been almost ten years since the last film, but it works out then A Dame To Killer For will have been worth the wait.
So what do you think of the first official Sin City: A Dame to Kill For trailer? Whatever your thoughts are, drop them in the comments below and I’ll see ya later! 😀
