Howdy people and it is once again time for another trailer review and today I’m gonna be talking about the recent new trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction. Now I really liked the first Transformers, I genuinely think it was cool and fun, but Revenge of the Fallen was awful and Dark of the Moon was one of the most forgettable films of 2011. So with this one I initially thought there was no hope even with a new cast and storyline, but in the end I can’t fight my curiosity so that’s why I’m still paying attention to this film.
So check out the trailer below:
Okay, well, at least the plot is different.
To be honest I can’t find much to say about this film because I don’t really care for it. I look at this trailer and all I say to myself is “In the end I know it’ll be another standard Transformers film.”
Of course there are new elements that come into play here that suggest otherwise like:
- The inclusion of a new cast with Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer among some of the cool people in this film.
- The whole angle of having the Transformers no longer needed is interesting.
- The loss of the old cast just makes this a better film.
- Stanley Tucci screaming “Oh my god!” That was funny.
Well at least the visuals look good, the Autobots and Deceptions have never looked so vibrant, clear and colourful. The new look for Optimus Prime is pretty kicks ass and seeing him go up against that T-Rex (I assume its Grimlock) was kind of badass. But that’s where my appreciation for the visuals end. Everything else looks like Dark of the Moon again and I’m not in the mood to relive that film again.
In conclusion the first trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction has a few new interesting things going for it, but it is nothing to write home about. The last two films were just terrible, (bar the visuals) but all I see in this new trailer is more of the same. But who am I kidding? I know I’ll still go and watch this film in the summer because I am a sucker for big and loud action films. I want to believe that there is more to it than that, but with Michael Bay you can never tell.
So what do you think of the first official Transformers 4 trailer? Are down for more robot smashing madness or are you fatigued of these films and want them to die? Whatever your thoughts are, drop them in the comments below and I’ll see ya later! 😀
