The Lego Movie 2 Release Date Set For 2017!

22 Feb

Howdy ladies nad gents, time for some late film news about The Lego Movie sequel, I would have blogged about this sooner but I was at the cinema for ages earlier on today. But hey it is better to deliver the news better late than never right? The following info comes from IGN:

“Get ready for more brick-building mayhem! With The LEGO Movie earning over $200 million at the worldwide box office, Warner Bros. has set the planned sequel to open on May 26, 2017.

The LEGO Movie 2 is the first film to be scheduled for that date, according to Variety. As previously reported, the studio has already tapped Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan to pen the script. Meanwhile, The LEGO Movie producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee are also expected to return for the sequel.”

Well this was inevitable so I am not surprised that this is going ahead. Considering the success of the film critically and financially it would be a no-brainer for Warner Bros. not to capitalize on the success of the current Lego film. While I am curious to know where the story or threat would go in the next film, I am glad that this sequel is happening because I really liked The Lego Movie, it was hella fun and it is the kind of animated films that the world needs right now.

Yay, although 3 years seems a bit long.

Definitely, buy I guess Warner Bros. have enough films in teh pipeline already and want to make space for Man of Steel 2 if it does actually show up in 2016.
