The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Trailer #2 Review

01 Oct

Hey hey people, time for another trailer review and today’s trailer is one I actually forgot was coming out today; the second trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug! Now I really liked the first trailer, it had a good deal of connecting tissue between the last film and this new adventure, but now we have this new trailer that gives us more new footage and it honestly looks kick ass! So let’s not waste any more time and get talking about it.

But firstly have a look at the epic trailer below:

I thought the last trailer was cool, but here some this one with so much more action, drama, characters and crazy new challenges and obstacles for Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin and the rest of the dwarves. Simply put this trailer is full of epicness and I am just counting down the days until this film comes out in December.

There’s not much I can say about the film that I haven’t said already, besides the fact that the trailer offers up some new footage and reminds me that the film is till coming out a few months from now I’m kind of at a loss for words. But yeah let me just say what I can and what I do like.

The action in this trailer is looking sweet as hell with there being a lot of fights, jumping and explosions. It’s all cool. We also get to see a bit more of our favourite elf, Legolas, as he runs around being all cool with his speed and taking out enemies with his weapons. Also the other elves look fast and agile, but the stand-out person in that group is  Tauriel, she has some wicked fight scenes, her choreography is tight, she is pretty and it also seems like from what Thranduil says in the trailer that she’ll be romantically involved with Legolas possibly? I’m just guessing here.

My favourite part of the trailer is when Bilbo says to Gandalf that he found something in the goblin tunnel (referring to the ring of course), but instead of telling him the truth he changes his story to finding his courage. You can tell at that point that this is where Bilbo gets a bit crafty and I think maybe the ring’s addictive power might start getting to him. But I guess we’ll see.

I’m liking all of the different locations and how they all offer up different colour palettes with massive mountain tops, misty swamps, dark webbed-up forests and all this other beautiful scenery. Just like the Hobbit Part 1, visually this film is looking very vibrant, crisp and sharp and I can only imagine how incredible it’ll look in IMAX.

And of course we have to talk about the ending, bloody hell. At the end of the first trailer we got to see Smaug the dragon finally makes his appearance, well, at least get to see his massive head appear around a corner and scare the shit out of Bilbo. But this time we get to see more of his body as he crawls around and his even gets to blow fire! But the most important point was that we finally got to here him speak and as per usual Benedict Cumberbatch delivers! He sounds creepy, menacing and someone you don’t wanna fuck with. I can’t wait.

In conclusion The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is shaping up to be one heck of film. This second trailer has really sold me and I’m extremely hyped for the film. I have a feeling that this film will be better than the last and I’m looking forward to seeing this one in IMAX 3D. As I said before in the last Hobbit trailer review, BRING IT THE HELL ON!

Legolas! I forgot he’s from Mirkwood. They didn’t show the spiders right? My favorite thing is the voice of Smaug. I’m just getting into Sherlock so anything with Benedict Cumberbatch becomes even cooler. I also get the feeling this will be better than the first movie.

Yes man, you know what the deal is! And yeah Cumberbatch is all sorts of awesomeness, I’m also glad you’re watching Sherlock, such a great TV series. really hope this film is as awesome as I think it’ll be.

Looks good, haven’t got time for a review at the minute but my views are pretty similar. I also like that we still don’t really see the Smaug baddie. Better good in film 😀
