So there has been talk on another potential Hulk film but there hasn’t been much news regarding that subject for some time now, but now Joss Whedon is here to lay down his thoughts on the matter. The following article comes from IGN:
“There’s no denying that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk was one of the standouts in Marvel’s The Avengers. The character has definitely struggled in the past, but many fans have since gotten on board with the idea of giving the Jade Giant another solo round on-screen. Although Marvel head Kevin Feige has said a Ruffalo Hulk movie is definitely within the realm of possibility, it wouldn’t be something they’d attempt until after The Avengers 2.
Earlier this week, director Joss Whedon shared his own thoughts on the matter, noting that another Hulk film could potentially work — but not without some clever innovation.
“Hulk is a tricky son of a bitch. He’s the Claudio of superheroes,” Whedon said at the Glasgow Film Festival on Sunday. “Because the problem is it’s a very popular character, but it’s not a superhero. Half of it’s a superhero, half of it’s a werewolf. And you can’t structure it like a superhero movie, you can’t light it like a superhero movie. How do you develop that? It would be extremely difficult. The one thing you would have in your favour would be Mark Ruffalo. But right now I don’t know if they have plans to do that or not, because he works so well as part of a greater whole, but by himself, it’s tough. I don’t envy the guys who went before.”
In the meantime, Marvel’s first Phase 2 movie, Iron Man 3, opens May 3. The Avengers 2, meanwhile, is slated for May 1, 2015.”
After reading this I can understand exactly what he means, the Hulk doesn’t have the same conventional aspects that make him a superhero like other comic book characters, there is a lot of variables and I feel that’s while the previous two Hulk films haven’t fared too well. I mean the last one wasn’t half bad but it was far too boring and there wasn’t enough of the comic book elements that made the character cool in the first place. The Avengers was the first film to make the Hulk look, feel and move like the comics and I loved it. That was my Hulk and I hope he does get another try in the solo film department because Mark Ruffalo really killed it as Bruce Banner!
