Justin Timberlake Performing @ Mark’s Cuban’s Super Bowl

05 Feb

I know I’m a bit when it comes to blogging about anything Super Bowl-related, but this is something I had to blog about. I had been looking forward to seeing what Justin Timberlake would do at the 2013 Super Bowl in his first live performance after four years. Would he kill it or be a little rusty? In the end from what I’ve seen of the videos it’s like Timberlake never left.

After so much time away the guy still knows how to rock a stage!

Now I will be talking about each of the live songs that JT performed (at least the one’s visible online at the moment), so let’s get started!

Little Pusher Love Girl

I swear after hearing this for the first time I fell in love with it straight away. This was the first new song that JT debuted from his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience (besides “Suit & Tie” of course) and to say that I like it would be a understatement. I love it! JT seemed like he was in his element when moved to the music and sang those pitch notes that only he can do. There is something so ‘Timberlake’ about the song that its hard to explain, but anyway I love the music and JT’s singing together, it was perfect. I’m normally one of those kind of people who prefer studio music to live performances but in some cases like this I get won over, and if “Little Pusher Love Girl” sounds anything like this on the album then I know it’ll be incredible.

That Girl

Here we have another new song from JT’s upcoming album and this one is a lovely soulful performance. This song has a nice soft melody and again JT’s vocals carry the song very well. I don’t have much to say about this one, I liked it a lot but it’s not nearly as cool as the other 3 song performances that he did.

Suit & Tie

Oh yes now this is the good stuff, “Suit & Tie” has already been on my mind for days now and seeing it performed live is even better. Now I’m eve more obsessed than I was before! So here we have JT strutting his stuff and singing in a lovely fashion accompanied by great musicians and back-up singers. Everything is good well, but when Jay-Z enters the stage the crowd just blows up! Both of them have great chemistry together and vibe off of each other nicely. The song just sounds nice and makes you wanna start dancing and in this video JT has shown that in can work for a live performance too. In the end this was definitely my highlight song of JT’s performance.

SexyBack

So “SexyBack” was the last performance that JT did before finishing his show and for a good few hours it was hard to find but luckily it was uploaded at the latter part of Monday. Man I was so glad to see JT and Timbaland back together doing what is arguably one of the most popular songs of the last decade. JT was one form and Timbo was in his groove, and while I loved this version of the song I kind of wish that Timbo had gotten to do more and sing his parts without the assistance of JT, but that’s just a minor nitpick at best. But what really elevated this performance was the assistance of JT’s band, The Tennessee Kids. They did really well playing song and jazzing it up with slight variations at certain points in the song and when they did the instrumental outro after JT left that was some good stuff!

So that’s it ladies and gents, so have you seen any of JT’s performances and what do you think them? Whatever your thoughts from them below and let me know. Until the next time people, laters! 😀
