My Response to the Wii U games that use the Off TV Play feature

03 Jan

So now that the Wii U is released in all major territories it would be nice to know what games are compatible with the Off TV Play feature that allows you to play goes on the Wii U GamePad without the use of your television. Luckily a list has been provided to show gamers exactly which games specifically have use the feature and thankfully there are quite a few. From Assassin’s Creed 3 to Madden 13, from New Super Mario Bros. U to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, from Scribblenauts Unlimited to Trine 2: Director’s Cut. There are at least 28 games in the Wii U library for you to be able to play with the use of a television screen and that is a pretty decent number of games. One of the most unique and hyped up features of the Wii U was the ability to be able to play games without the use of a TV screen and if Nintendo didn’t deliver that promise properly I know some gamers would have been pissed. While some developers have claimed that they will not be taking advantage of this feature, I am glad to see that it has been implemented into most of the Wii U games at the moment and I hope it will continue in future titles.

My Nintendo News

wii_u_gamepad_new_super_mario_bros_uThanks to the new controller and its 6.2-inch touchscreen, there are multiple Wii U games that can be played solely on the Wii U GamePad, including Little Inferno, New Super Mario Bros. U, Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Scribblenauts Unlimited.

Also, specific parts or modes of select Wii U games, like Nintendo Land and Rabbids Land, can be played by using the Wii U GamePad’s screen for viewing.

Here’s a list of existing Wii U games that support the Off TV play feature:

  • Assassin’s Creed III
