Howdy ladies and gents and welcome back to my three-part blog post on the latest new on Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Now this article from superherohype is pretty cool and to be honest has gotten me even more hyped the Captain America sequel:
“On the heels of word earlier today that Frank Grillo has joined the cast of Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes confirmation, via Variety, that a few familiar S.H.I.E.L.D. agents will be appearing as well. Reprising their roles from Marvel’s The Avengers are Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. Also confirmed to be returning, as was long rumored, is Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.
The film is slated to star Chris Evans, reprising his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America, and franchise newcomer Anthony Mackie in the role of the Falcon.”
While a lot of fans had counted on this happening many months ago I’m still glad to see that the presence of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t disappeared in the Phase 2 Marvel films. I guess it’s only logical that they would stay around Cap because he is the man out of time and really does need time adapt to the present-day world. I assume that S.H.I.E.L.D. will help him in that regard. Also I am not surprised that Sebastian Stan would return as Bucky Barnes, it would be foolish for him not to come back and would only add to the already confusing shifts Marvel actor switches. Plus Stan would have to be in this next film to play the important Winter Soldier character. In any case the Marvel Phase 2 film are shaping up pretty well and Cap 2 is definitely grabbing my interest with every new news story released.
